i'm not certain what comments he's talking about, maybe "The point system is nothing but a colossal perverse incentive to do this kind of nonsense, Joakim." towards one word stories but essentially i think there are some issues with an abuse of the point system that do need to be taken in to account, but i think the rankings would be pretty cool - and i'm not just saying that because i'd probably get a pretty cool one
or i think not even a hover, but next to the eye and the check have a little star. that would be a good way to judge a story's popularity
i could see some problems with this - mainly nepotism, and of course would that be once ever or just once for every three, and so on and so on but still interesting
a counter i suppose would be to have a user run spotlight system (again with people just doing their own/friends works) but idk how that would work. . .
well i guess the problem with disowning stories is what happens when they get picked up again and end up with a hundred some votes? can the original poster take it back? do the points go to no one? besides, is there any reason not to keep a story just on your page? i mean i have tons of stories just abandoned just in case any one stumbles upon them. i can understand if the author thinks 'wow, this story is horrible' and abandons/deletes it because of that, but i'm not certain that abandoning stories do to lack of views is the right way to go about it
Well there is https://www.storywars.net/stories/all?filter=Vote# but i can understand putting something like that on the home page. maybe the five stories most recently starting voting and then linking to every story in a vote??
i don't know i've just been having a lot of thoughts lately and this seemed like one of them
for a lot of sites i like tagging systems as an easy way to search because it's a bit more narrow down-y than just search terms
but on this site no one knows where the story will go making that a bit hard
what could maybe work is a tagging system where each draft writer also can add tags? i'm not certain how well that would work but who knows
